Be a Berliner for a day

Berlin Greeter – see what’s behind

With Berlin Greeter you will experience the real Berlin with all its amazing corners, out of the usual tracks and, above all, the way berliners perceive it daily. Our volunteering greeters will be thrilled to share their love for their city as well as their knowledge about it with you.

These are our core values:

  • Greeters are volunteers, a friendly face for those visiting a city/destination.

  • Greeters welcome individuals and may serve small groups of up to six people.

  • Meeting a Greeter is free of charge.

  • All visitors and volunteers are welcomed without any kind of discrimination.

  • Greeter programs support sustainable tourism. Programs respect natural and man-made environments, bringing both¬†cultural and economic enrichment to local communities. Programs aim for a lasting positive image of each destination.

  • Greeter programs create a mutually enriching opportunity for cultural exchange; create links between people in creating a¬†better world.

A so-called ‘greet’ lasts between two and four hours. It is for free as our greeters are no professional guides: they volunteer to improve the image of their own city. During a ‘greet’ you will get to know our city on foot or on public transport. It doesn’t matter if you visit for the first time or if you think you know the city by heart: our ambassadors to Berlin will welcome you most warmly and will be thrilled to show you their most beloved corners. Give it a try and you will enjoy a unique cultural exchange with funny (and probably unconventional) anecdotes about Berlin and its inhabitants. Berlin greeters are not that formal but enormously welcoming!

Come as a guest – leave as a friend!
