Our idea to start a ‘Greeter program’ is not really new but has been working successfully all over the world. In 1992, New-York-citizen Lynn Brooks founded the ‘Big Apple Greeter’ concept. New York volunteers started to show tourists the New York where they live and work. Over the years, other cities followed: Chicago, Paris, Melbourne – and finally Berlin!
With ‘Berlin Greeter’ we bring together interested visitors and dedicated Berliners -“ without any charge at all. Our volunteers are no professional city guides. They love their Berlin quarter (‘Kiez’) and want to provide an insight into their very personal life in this crazy city. The Greeters accompany you without a fee, without a tip. Just like a good friend would do.
Our Greeters show you the different quarters of Berlin with both its rough edges and beauty. On this individual tour you will definitely see more than with a normal tour guide. What’s the secret of the typical Berlin backyard? Where are the most unique stores? And what’s the difference between a ‘pancake’ and a ‘Berliner’? The Greeters know the answers to most of your questions.
